The FAME-II plans to promote ‘Make in India’ initiative for electric vehicles. The policy grants the subsidy to products that meet its strict criteria. The policy states that the products must be at least 50% localized, be able to achieve and exceed the speed of 40 kmph, have a range of 80 km on a single charge, with additional incentives on featuring lithium-ion batteries. The testing agencies like ARAI will have to ensure the vehicles comply with the Phased Manufacturing Programme (PMP) guidelines set by the Department of Heavy Industry/ Government of India.

FAME India Scheme Phase II
Government has approved Phase-II of FAME Scheme with an outlay of Rs. 10,000 Crore for a period of three years commencing from 1st April 2019. Out of total budgetary support, about 86 percent of fund has been allocated for Demand Incentive so on create demand for
Electric Vehicles (xEVs) homologation within the country.
This phase aims to demand by way of supporting 7000 Electric Buses (e-bus), 5 lakh Electric Three Wheelers (e-3W), 55000 Electric Four Wheeler Passenger Cars (including Strong Hybrid vehicles homologation) (e-4W)and 10 lakh Electric Two Wheelers (e-2W) homologation. However, depending upon off-take of varied category of xEVs, these numbers may vary because the supply has been made for inter also as intra segment wise fungibility. additionally , creation of Charging Infrastructure also are going to be supported under the Scheme II.
Vehicles homologation, fitted with only advanced chemistry battery, meeting with minimum Techanical Criteria and registered as “Motor Vehicle” as per CMVR certification consultant services shall be eligible for incentive under the Fame 2 scheme. With greater emphasis on providing affordable & environment friendly public transportation options for the masses, scheme are getting to be applicable mainly to vehicles used for conveyance or those registered for commercial purposes in e-3W homologation consultant , e-4W homologation consultant and e-bus segments.
